The city administration and staff provide the link between the elected governing body and the staff of the city's 15 departments.

The Administration department provides research, analysis, and recommendations on policy and service matters for the mayor and board of directors consideration. These assist the elected officials with establishing policies and setting service goals.

Following the board's decisions, the city administration is responsible for making certain the decisions are effectively and efficiently implemented by the responsible departments.  The administration office also evaluate the effectiveness of municipal service and projects.

The two co-acting deputy city administrators are Dean Kruithof and Ray Gosack, and administrative assistant, Wendy Beshears.
